Learning to fly : From the nest to ‘take off’

The Lord and His apostles had a different aim to the church today. It was not just about converting, it was about discipling and after sales. Good grounding in His Word. Holiness, purity, transformation.

So many churches start the conversion well at the superficial level but the new adherents never go up the ladder. The discipling is weak because of poor after sales. Poor detail. Fear, lack of conviction.

Maturity in the leadership can be the issue. The lovely comfort zone of the church does not make the outside attractive to leave for.

But that is  exactly what Christ and His followers taught. Leave home family etc and go out not the world.

Like the mother bird, she pushes the baby out of the nest  to fly. That baby has a short distance after a couple of flying demonstrations by papa to flap its wings, before gravity wins and Kersplatt!

This is what you will see now starting around the world. The ministry centres are waking up to the fact their trainees are hitting the streets rudderless, not properly grounded and without purpose.

If anyone has tried to create a sales team, there are many footfalls.
First
Find someone and convert them to using and believing in the product.

I have had to start sales teams from scratch. It’s about people not just the  product.
They need to be trained in the product, the business, the market place, the customer profile, the opposition.
They need testimonies that it works and is beneficial to the user and customer.
They need to be passionate about it and have good solid and not wishy washy answers.
The competitive market needs to be known, appraised and measured for their value and threat.
They need to know how to confidently deal with the threat.
The product needs to be branded and attractive to eye and other senses and not confusing.  Keep it simple.

The salesmen need to be encouraged, tutored, corrected, disciplined lovingly and rewarded.

No sales team lasts without the latter.

A bad product can be sold  by a good salesman

A good product will sell possibly with a bad salesman.

A good product in the hands of a good honest motivated salesman well trained, passionate and converted to using the product himself, will sell to millions.
Then you can send him out equipped and ready to die for the product.

The apostolic discipling model, Christ started, did this.
The church followed it for a few centuries before it decided it needed to be the product identity instead of Jesus Christ.

The new world to bring the billions of souls in:-
Apostolic hubs of discipling, formation and activation.
As Wesley found out to his shock, people would come to fields open spaces more easily and homes but were more reticent about the eclecticism of churches and sitting in pews.  He got out on the road to be a circuit rider.

God wants a network like the IT we have today. Servers, Points of Presence, data centres. Does this ring a bell? Skill sets need to be shared, not replicated in all places because of protectionism. Ministries need to work together with complimentary skills and cross overs. Competition needs to be laid down at the foot of the Cross.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it.

How about this from Dake’s study notes on the above. This is what the Lord said should happen with every baby Christian. Boom

b [in the way] Literally, at the mouth of his path. The idea seems to be that when he comes to this opening of the way, give him complete instructions on every step to take. Drill him thoroughly on how to perform his duties, how to escape danger, and how to appropriate the blessings of the way. Stamp these lessons on his soul and lead him to practice them until they are part of his life and nature. Bathe him in prayer and instill the fear of God into him and he shall not depart from it.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action),
So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Boom boom !!
