Fear of God revisited.

Fear of God

God is Love
The church has spent too much time making people afraid of God in the wrong way.
So believers and even unbelievers feel that before they can come to Him they need to get themselves perfect so in the meantime stay away.

This could not be further from the truth.

The joke is that before time began in eternity and before we arrived, God has done a great deal in his plans for us to be accepted by Him without us having to do much at all.

Romans 8:28-30
And we know that all things work together for the good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
It does not look as if we need to do too much !
The fear of the Lord we need is an awesome reverential one of His mighty power and love of us.

If He is goodness personified He carries no evil or ogre like attributes.

It’s His power to forgive which is fearful and majestic.
Psalms 130:4
But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.
His Son having taken upon Himself all sin of the cosmos, has relieved all of the scare factor allowing us to come before the Throne, repenting of our past and bring cleansed and renewed in our souls.

I would be running towards Him if I still remained in a sinful state. You get a complete whitewash and the Book of Life has no record of your actions however evil.
Hebrews 10:15-18
But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,

“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Hebrews 8:11-12
None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
Booming love forgiveness and salvation. And justified and glorified !
