The sun dial
A sundial is a device that tells the time of day by the apparent position of the Sun in the sky.
Who is our sun/Son dial today? Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
He guides our time. Where He is positioned so we should be too.
Has you time arrived yet? Where are you on the path?
According to Isaiah and the word He received, the sun as a dial had become irrelevant. Time as we know it is not something that should be controlling or guiding us. Only the Holy Spirit.
On Hezekiah’s sundial, in answer to his prayer, God in repayment of the King’s righteousness and obedience just by slowing the sun in its tracks ten degrees added 15 years of life to him. 10 degrees is 40 minutes extra that Hezekiah’s received every day!
It was this point in time where many people argue that the 360 day year moved to the near 365 day year we have now.
Many believe through the calculations and reference to time in Revelations we will return to a 360 day year before Christ returns.
And the word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying, “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.” ’ And this is the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing which He has spoken: Behold, I will bring the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down with the sun on the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward.” So the sun returned ten degrees on the dial by which it had gone down.
Time and our use of it is very important to the Lord. All flows from God therefore He is Time.
God the Glory of His People
The sun shall no longer be your light by day,
Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;
But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light,
And your God your glory.
Your sun shall no longer go down,
Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;
For the Lord will be your everlasting light,
And the days of your mourning shall be ended.
The sun light guides our time more than it should. As Jesus is the light, He is our true measure of time.
The hour has come!
He was the clock. The sundial.
He had one purpose in His life. It was to be ready for the hour that His Father had prepared Him for.
And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
All our times are guided by Him.
We have no other purpose but to be ready for the hour He prepares us for.
This does not necessarily mean our point of death remotely. It is the hour when He launches us in to fully glorify Him.
Just as Jesus was waiting for the moment to glorify His Father and die to bring life,
We have to die to ourselves to bring a seed harvest.
